If rich corporations are giving their CEOs huge bonuses or salaries, while the company goes bankrupt or if they have done anything illegal or if they get bailed out, isn't it the government that is at fault? While the government cannot dictate how much a company pays its CEOs they are responsible if they bail them out. Why do hypothetical situations like that somehow equate to "lets tax the rich more"?
If there is a sense of unfairness shouldn't it be: lets tax the poor less? When did taxing people more become en vogue? When people say: "lets tax the rich more" isn't that by default saying:I want a bigger government and socialism? If we tax the rich more won't that just provide more money for a bigger government that bailed out unethical corporations to begin with? If big government bails them out why should we give big government even more money?
I guess I am becoming an old school dinosaur. When someone says lets tax someone more, I cringe. For me, it's not a question of what is fair. I just don't think I can ever understand why people would wish more "taxes" on anyone as a remedy to unfairness. Why aren't people saying "lets tax the poor less"? Please leave me a comment on what you think.
